Our interior fit-out of this new penthouse apartment located in the prestigious Patriarchy Ponds area followed the design of Swanke Hayden Connell Architect's (SHCA) designer whose brief was to provide light, airy accommodation in a contemporary style, with references to particular themes reflecting the client's eclectic tastes and love of travel.
SHCA's proposals required significant modifications to be made to the structure and fabric of the original building to create generous, light-filled space. North light enters through a roof-light above the central staircase, and penetrates via double height spaces opening up from a gallery-like upper level. Interior concepts range from overt Moroccan in the master bedroom suite to implied nautical in the master bathroom, and the most striking feature, a sweeping staircase made by Altaca's local craftsmen, reflects the client's love of Art Nouveau.
