CLIENT
The Anglo-American School of Moscow, founded in 1949, is an independent, coeducational day school in northwest Moscow that offers an international educational program from Pre-Kindergarten (4-year-olds) through Grade 12. The school is governed by a School Board composed of members from the US, British and Canadian Embassies and other communities. The Anglo-American School of Moscow is accredited by the European Council of International Schools, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the International Baccalaureate Organization. It is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Central and Eastern European Schools Association.
INITIAL PROJECT
Altaca's first Project for the AAS was awarded following a competitive tender organised by Davis Langdon, as Cost & Project Managers, on their behalf.
The Project involved the following works:
- conversion of 970 m2 of unused attic space in the Lower School to create classrooms, teacher's rooms, a computer laboratory and a sports / gymnasium area.
- reconfiguration of 720 m2 of basement areas in the Lower School to improve storage utilisation, and to create a fitness room, a dance classroom and a Black-Box Theatre
All the detailed design (based on a provided concept design) & works had to be completed within the period of the School Summer Holiday Break of 7 weeks. The specialist works included:
Finishes to exercise rooms and theatre,
Full air conditioning & ventilation including AHU’s
Fire Alarm system
Connections of all systems to building management system
Subsequent to the successful completion of the above Project, Altaca entered into a Framework Agreement with the School, with monitoring of project costs and quality being undertaken by David Langdon and subsequently RPSi.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN UNDER THE FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT (ALL UNDER SEPARATE CONTRACTS):
1. Works to improve the poor acoustics and lighting in several areas including the Kitchens, the Dining Rooms, 3 Music Rooms, and Physical Education Areas.
2. Reconfiguration and complete renovation of the Administration Offices (250 m2), including the replacement of external windows. Modifications to the ventilation system in the loading bay area were also undertaken.
3. Improvements to Mechanical Rooms, Storage Areas, Back-Office Areas totalling 350m2
4. Design & Installation of Physical Vehicle Entrance & Exit Barriers, modification of related roads and pedestrian pathways.
5. Modifications and upgrades to Sprinkler Systems
6. Provision & Installation of a new Air Handing Unit relating to improvements to the Ventilation Systems in the Rehearsal Room, Choral Room, Electronic Music Room and related Corridors.
7. Replacement of existing Lighting Systems in several rooms to improve Lux Levels
8. Upgrade of Ventilation System in the Workshop Area
